Visitors discovering magic in the Kwazulu Natal Karkloof Mistbelt Biome

So wonderful to be able to share God’s beautiful creation with day visitors. Blessed with still enough water in the middle of winter – to keep the natural mistbelt forest and grassland healthy and magical.

Because of human activity most of the KZN mistbelt grasslands have become transformed or lost. It is estimated that only 4% of untransformed mistbelt grassland remains and even this is under threat. The mistbelt forests have also declined in size with many small patches being entirely destroyed. We are actively conserving the remaining forests and grasslands on our farm, and the indigenous trees are no longer commercially logged. We believe that our efforts are having a positive impact on the health and diversity of thegrasslands and forests.

Please remember to contact us to organise a visit to what we have been called to conserve – Twin Falls Farm’s natural mistbelt forest and mistbelt grassland. Please see our website home page for more information.

An additional self-catering accommodation option at TwinFalls Farm in the beautiful Karkloof, KZN midlands

TwinFalls Farm in the Karkloof (KZN midlands) is excited to present our bachelor suite “Col’s Cottage” which sleeps 2 (1 bedroom with double bed, kitchen and living room in 1 space, separate bathroom with shower, toilet and basin). The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, microwave, kettle & bar fridge. The geyser is also on gas.

This cute little cottage used to be used by three older ladies – who used to keep a fire going continuously with a huge cauldron over it. This started the legend of the 3 witches living in this structure – as the small children would obviously conclude! Please see a picture below of what the ruined structure looked like for many years since. It has been lovingly renovated, and we can’t wait to welcome you to our little piece of heaven.

Col’s Cottage before the renovation

Access is via the Braco farm driveway, and the cottage has a peaceful farmland vista. A wonderful weekend getaway for 2!
